Jane is a 13 year old with severe asthma. She has been admitted to the hospital with status asthmaticus. Like most teenage girls, Jane likes scented products. This episode was triggered when she borrowed a friend's perfume and applied it after gym class. Jane takes her medication as directed, but increasing amounts has been required to keep her asthma under control.
