Safety Testing

There are thousands of chemicals used in fragrance, however skin patch testing is commercially available for only a very limited number of fragrance materials. There are no tests available to determine if fragrance chemicals are respiratory allergens.

Since the fragrance ingredients are not listed on the label of the products, even if the problematic chemical is known, avoidance is still difficult. For those with respiratory conditions triggered by fragrance, avoidance is almost impossible due to the widespread use of fragrance and its constant presence in the air.
