6. REGULATION
 6.1. United States

The FDA is responsible for regulation of products that are considered cosmetics and for the safety of foods.  The Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) is responsible for both food safety and cosmetics.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission oversees the safety of many consumer products including household and most other consumer products.

The EPA is responsible for protecting human health and the environment. Generally the EPA's authority relates to indoor and outdoor air quality,  water quality, pollution, and impact of chemicals on human health and the environment.
